What are contribution groups and how are they determined?

In Spain, there is a classification of workers according to their profession and the activities they perform in a company. This is exactly what is known as contribution groups. These are groups of workers to define the contributions they must make to  Social Security .

  • Group 5  – Administrative Officers: This is a group with simpler administrative tasks, but which require experience.
  • Group 6  – Subordinates: these are positions whose directors belong to the previous groups.
  • Group 7  – Administrative Assistants: this includes employee management positions, as well as those responsible for cleaning, masonry, transportation, among others.
  • Group 8  – First and second class officers: from this group onwards, the contribution is established according to the days worked and not on a monthly basis.
  • Group 9  – Third Officers and Specialists.
  • Group 10  – Pawns.
  • Group 11  – Workers under 18 years of age, regardless of their professional category.
